Sad.... There are many things in this world which are incomprehensible. One thing is rape.
What can a baby do ? India has passed laws on paedophilia and we need every paedophile to be put behind bars. Weather he is holy or not.
Sometimes I think muslim justice is the correct justice. Eye for an eye.. if someone abuses a child, he should be abused by an elephant or a camel...
or simple cut of a thiefs arm... and cut of a rapist dick...
Sadness and anger comes from the fact that we cant do anything about such things, esp when its happening so far away. But atleast we should do something in the place where we live in.

vivek... yeah, it is very very sad.
prat... well I think it is humans, not just men. most of the people corralling the children in the brothels of mumbai are WOMEN.
vasu... one issue with rape that many people do not understand is that it is about power, not sex. so if you take a rapist's genitals, he will rape with something else... a stick, anything really. Most rapists and pedophiles are such because they themselves were abused already as children. So while I do not have sympathy for them, punishing them in this way will not bring them to enlightenment.
Rape is not a crime of sexual fulfillment. It is a crime of feeling powerless and gaining power over another.
I agree that we need to do something in the places where we live.

@ss - Rape is not just about power but illegal breach of space.
If I were to become a politician and drunk on power, I would enforce it on others using legal means whatever the law gives me a leverage. At worst that is manipulation and at best mandate.
Rape is about the audacity and gall to violate someone. There should be no mercy for that. Especially when it comes to babies.
I dont quiet buy this argument that, these people are sick. They might be sick, but not sick enough to be incapable of understanding right and wrong.
I think a fair, quick and a just punishment would help the victim get justice and go on with her life.
The arabs have constructed a much better and safer society for women by their shariat base justice system than others. A rapist will think a million times before violating an arab woman. He will ahve to pay for his life by public stoning.
A rape of a baby (boy/girl) is the biggest of all crimes. Believe me when I say, there have been young children sexually abused by men and women in almost all societies.
India too. Infact its easier in India than anywhere else. There is tremendous social stigma and cultural smokescreens to hide what happened.
Right now there is no awareness on this subject. People think it doesent exist atall. A few harsh convictions can definitely send the right message to both victimisers and society in general.
If we cant protect the young, old and infirm in our society, we have definitely failed as a nation.

vasu.... dear.... you're off by about 10000000 percent on rape in arab cultures. they have no better statistics on rape than any other culture. and rape is often used in countries like the sudan or other arab nations as a form of punishment.... ordered by none other than the girl's father or brothers. these people, of course, are not true muslims, because someone who truly adored and feared his god would not do such things.
we can talk offline about what motivates rape and why abusers abuse.

yes and no. do you mean that a victim will feel better only if her attacker is killed? this is not true. again let's talk offline.
I agree with you that in India there needs to be more education. same with everywhere in the world. we are all ignorant about this mess.

what an awful fact of life.
rape is a sin but cutting someones dick off in an after the event act of revenge with the victim still having been raped. we need to punish rapists for sure and with a justice that is appropriate but we also need to find a solution as to why some men rape and then put right whatever it is that causes this vile perversion.

Justice primarily has to be seen to be delivered. Apart from being delivered.

This reformation is a concept of the church which believes in guilt sin and salvation.
Karma operates in precise and measured fashion.

Why not is because IT DOESN'T WORK. Castrating rapists does not stop them... it will actually just infuriate them more. We tried that in this country, both literally and chemically.
You're missing the point. Rape is NOT about sex. You take a rapist's penis from him and he will then rape with his fist or a stick or a bottle.
Rapists are men who for some reason feel like they have lost power. The only way they feel powerful is to rape. To take even more power from him exacerbates the problem. It surely will not solve it.
I do not believe in the concept of exacting exact revenge for deeds done. Where would that leave us? In a world spinning out of control on an axis of ever-escalating violence. Where would it stop?
If you read the bible, it does NOT advocate that 'an eye for an eye' be carried out by man.... it says that God will even things out in the end.
We have laws and we should enforce them legally. Do I feel that repeat sex offenders of kids deserve a special place in hell? yes. Am I willing to consider that the death penalty (which I am highly opposed to) be considered for repeat pedophiles? well, I am starting to consider it. But do I think resorting to what amounts to torture of an obviously mentally impaired person is a good answer to all this sickness. No, and I never will.

prat, you might be mad but the best way to address these terrible things is not to fling so much mud it sticks on everyone. No, indeed, I will say 'not-everybody-is-that-way' but no, I don't 'have-a-halo' - I'm queer and proud of it so if you wanna blame men indiscriminately for female rape, blame the hetero or bi ones, okay? But hell, don't even do that because it just ain't fair to them. And sure there's gay rape too, God knows - but there's also lesbian rape, so go figure how THAT is an all-male blanket condemnation? Hmm?
I, too, get mad at rape - any rape, any abuse - but it serves no purpose to cast a net of blame so far it takes in every villain committing every crime as well as every decent person on your own street.

I think the difference between a rapist and a murderer is their projection of power. One projects power through his groin and the other through taking life. If a murderer can be put to death, a rapist should be decapciated.. You take his instrument away, he will feel inadequate about it...
See, biblical beliefs of guilt, sin and judgement day are not practical in getting the victim back on their feet. That in no way is justice.. Its no different from what islam says, "die for islam I will give you n vergins".. here you say, God will judge the abuser... you dont.
There is no real forgiveness for a crime like rape. There is only punishment equal in measure of the crime.
moreover if we chan chemically, biologically make the rapist sexually inactive it would dent his sense of power. He would fall in his own eyes. He would feel horribly inadequate.
Still dont understand why not ? The society is safe, a deterrant is established an example is made and the victim feels avenged..
I think one should not say that the feeling of revenge is illegitimate. The very fact it comes up in a person's mind is proof of legitimacy.

I would say life without parole and life without social contact...
Lock him up in an underground cell
no fan, just water, food and a shit pot. no hope of ever coming out again....
if he dies, the iron cell can be his coffin..
